This Easter 2023 we decided to double up and to go on 2 kitesurfing cruises during these holidays – we will have a kite safari on the first week of Easter, from 1st till 8th of April, and one the week after, from 8th till 15th of April. The plan is the same – all our team will go on a kitesurfing adventure in Egypt, a kite camp on our yacth with a simple goal in mind, to help you progress. It will be an intensive kite – a lot of kitesurfing, waking up at 6am to go kite to finish it up as sunset, of course with breaks on the yacht for food and rest. Our yacht will be our hotel, we will sleep, rest, chill and eat on our comfortable luxury motoryacht. We call it kite safari cause our yacht we will take us from spots to spots, chasing the best winds and the best conditions according to the wind forecast.
This kite trip is what we call a kite safari – we move from spot to spot, using our motor yacht, to the best kitesurfing spots of the Red Sea. We will find lagoons and sand banks with pristine turquoise flat waters, and from there we will kite from dawn till sunset. Kiting is our priority and we will kite every day when we are at sea. It is a 8 days/7 Nights all inclusive trips, and we have been doing these since 2014. The plan is simple – we kite and we use our yacht as a moving hotel, where we can rest, chill, eat and have a bit of fun out of the water.
Normally we run kite safari only the first week of Easter, but this year we decided to double the fun and go for a second kitesurfing cruise. The wind is usually great in Spring in Egypt, so we do expect great conditions.
This kite cruise is a good trip for advanced and intermediates riders, that will find perfect conditions for their progressions, and for beginners, that will be trained for free by our team, saving a lot of money, as kitesurfing lessons are normally very expensive. The starting point of this trip is Hurghada, Egypt – all you have to do is arrive at Hurghada International airport and we will take care of everything else.
On the first day, the 8th of April, we will welcome you on board and we will have the first night in the marina after having dinner on board. We will departure on the 17th in the early early morning, so you have time till the 9th at 5am to land in Hurghada. And if this week doesn’t work for you, have a look at our other Kite Safari weeks, to see all our scheduled trips for this year!
For this kite safari, our boat of choice will be Queen Sherry. Queen Sherry is a boat with tons of experience in running kite cruises – its team is made of a captain, a chef, sailors, mechanics and 2 persons in charge of our kite rescue boats. The boat has several deck, a main deck to prepare our gear for the day, a sun deck for chill and relax and make some music in the evening, a restaurant and a solarium. On the boat also the Sick Dog team will be on board – we have been organizing kite safaris since 2014, and we will do our best to have it everything prepared for you. Queen Sherry comes with two small rescue boats, that will be used, as the name suggests to rescue kiters in trouble and to reach the sandy beaches of the Red Sea with our kite gear.
8th April – On the very first day, you will arrive in Hurghada International Airport and with our minibus and taxi we will go to the boat to meet the remaining of the kiters and the rest of the team. You will get your bed in the cabin and have dinner on the boat. We will sleep on the boat the first night.
9th April – On the second day, we will leave the port very early in the morning to move towards the very first spot of the day, Geisum. One of the Northest kite spots we know. We will head to kite right before lunch and had also an after lunch session. Then as usual dinner on the boat and a good night sleep for the day after.
10th April – Most mornings, and this will be one of those, we will wake up early to kite before breakfast. This is of course optional, but it’s a great way to start the day, so it is of course recommended. We will have a good sunrise session, enjoying a quiet spot on the water. We will head back to the boat for breakfast and back on the the beach right after till lunch. We will spend the afternoon in Geisum, have a bbq on the beach and back to the boat, ready for an early morning tomorrow.
11th April – Today is downwinder day! We will move from Geisum to Tawila, a 2h30minutes downwinder relatively easy, following the boat but free to roam around. We will arrive in Tawila around lunch time, we will have lunch and head back to the beach for an afternoon and sunset session. We will sleep in Tawila.
12th April – All day in Tawila. This is one of the best spots in the Red Sea, and we want to spend as much time as possible here.
13th April – We will stay in Tawila and move to Abu Mungar in the afternoon, after kiting. We will stay in Abu Mungar, our southest kite spots in our route, ready to kite there tomorrow.
14th April – Last kiting day, we will go to the beach early and stay on the beach till around 3pm. We will then go back to marina on the boat, and have a last dinner on board, with optional a fun night in El Gouna with dinner and drinks, if we have enough energy!
15th April – The boat will close its doors at around midday. A transfer will be organized according to your scheduled flights, and our minibus will take you back to the airport. See you next time!
This is an example of one of our classic North Routes – the route of our week will strongly depends on the wind forecast for that specific week. In case of no wind, we will have, included in the cost, some fun activities, like wakeboard, snorkel, and Stand Up Paddle Boards. Said so, Spring is a perfect month for wind, so we do expect a good forecast, especially at sea, where there are always more knots than at land – when there is wind, we will kite.
